Do you know who your father is? (Part 1)

Have you ever been asked who your father is or whose son/daughter you are? What answer did you give to the fellow? I have been asked this question before and I am certain my answer was very similar to yours. I immediately answer by stating the name of my earthly father. I even went further to tell the individual what my father's profession was even though that was not the question that was asked of me. How about if I had answered the question by saying my father is the all powerful, a creator, omnipresent, does what He says He will do, all powerful, a great deliverer, a provider, a ever present helper, a great shepherd, a healer, a merciful one, and a savior? Can you imagine the countenance on the face of that individual? Such a person might look at look like you are stupid or most likely an insane man or woman dressed in a beautiful attire and then walk away from you. Another likely feedback you might get would be: "what are you talking about? What do you mean?" If this question was pitched at you, what would you say?

A good way to kick off this conversation would be to break down those names to the individual.

My father is a "Creator." What do I mean by this? My Father created heaven and earth. Genesis chapters 1 and 2. You can then go into details if you have time. (Note: It is advisable to do if the person thinks it is impossible for the heaven and earth to be created by someone.)

Now that you have laid down this foundation, you can now support this by helping the person understand that not only is your father a "Creator," He is a "Living God." Hosea 1:10 says "...Ye are sons of the living God." Also, Mark 12:27 confirms that "He is not he God of  the dead, but the God of the living." Since it is common sense that a dead God cannot rule the living, your Father is "a Living God."

Now take another step further by letting them know that not only is your father a "Creator" and a "Living God," He also keeps His covenant. In other words, He does what He says or promises to do. In other words, He cannot lie. It is an impossibility for Him to lie (Numbers 23:19). You can back up your point by giving examples such as Exodus 3:8 when He promised to deliver the Israelites from the Egyptians. He fulfilled this promise in Exodus 14:30. It is impossibly for Him to not fulfill His promise because nothing is too hard for Him to do (Matthew 19:26). Give other examples you know also.

Your father also answers prayers of His children. Have you seen where a baby cries to his or her mother for food? The cry always produces food at the end. This is the same way your father relates to His child. Mark 11:24 says: "Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours." A good example is found in 1 Kings 18:37.

Now I ask you: "Who is your father?"
